Directions

Always read and follow the patient information leaflet (PIL) provided with the medicine before use.

• Wash hands before use.

• Pull down the lower eyelid and apply a thin line of ointment inside the eyelid.

• Use every 3 hours during waking hours, or as directed by your pharmacist.

• Continue for 5 days, even if symptoms improve sooner.

• Do not use for more than 5 days unless directed by a doctor.

• Avoid contact between the tube tip and the eye or any surface.

• Do not wear contact lenses during treatment.

• Acute bacterial conjunctivitis

• Red, inflamed, sticky or watery eyes caused by bacterial infection

How Does It Work?

Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes in the bacteria. This prevents the bacteria from multiplying and allows the immune system to clear the infection more efficiently.
